Welcome In

We’re glad you’re here. Whether you’re restoring an old house, bringing new life to antique furniture, or just dreaming of a slower, more grounded way of living, we hope you’ll find inspiration, encouragement, and maybe a little permission to let things be imperfect.

This is Home Grown Patina. Grown over time, not rush

A Farmhouse, a Few Barns, & a Love for Things with a Past

Home Grown Patina began with an old dairy farm from the 1930s - and a belief that the best homes aren’t built overnight.

Two years ago, we left city life behind and bought a 20-acre former dairy farm that had seen decades of use, neglect, and change. The farmhouse needed more than updates. The barns were aging. The land had been quiet for a long time. But we could see what was still there beneath the wear. And that’s where this story begins.

We believe patina isn’t something you fake or force. It’s earned. Grown slowly through time, use, and care. And that philosophy guides everything we do here.

What We’re Restoring

This space documents our journey as we:

  • Renovate and restore a 1930s farmhouse while honoring its original character
  • Convert old barns—including one into a pop-up antique shop
  • Restore and rehome vintage and antique furniture by hand
  • Grow a garden and explore homestead living at a pace that feels intentional

To us, restoring a house isn’t separate from restoring a table or tending soil that hasn’t been worked in years. It’s all the same work. Preserving what matters while making it livable again.

Why “Home Grown Patina”

We chose the name Home Grown Patina because it reflects how we approach everything on this property.

We don’t chase perfection. We value history. We like things that show their age and tell a story. Whether it’s original wood floors, a weathered barn beam, or a piece of furniture with a few honest scars, we believe beauty comes from use, not polish.

Our home, our garden, and our work with antiques are all shaped by that same idea:
Grow what you have. Respect what came before. Let things age well.

The Barns, the Antiques, and What Comes Next

One of the original barns on the property will soon become a pop-up antique shop. It's an extension of our longtime passion for restoring old furniture and finding new homes for well-loved pieces. We’ve been antique dealers in the past, and this project allows us to blend that work with the land and buildings that surround us.

You’ll find before-and-after restorations, lessons learned (often the hard way), and plenty of imperfect progress along the way.

What You’ll Find Here

Home Grown Patina is for anyone who loves:

  • Old houses and thoughtful renovations

This isn’t a highlight reel. It’s real life - dust, paint splatters, surprises, and all.
